Outsourcing of public sector shows upward trend

Research by Seymour Pierce, one of the UK’s leading independent investment banks reveals contracts worth over £115,000, with local government contracts making up 63% of public sector outsourcing from 2012. The overall number of contracts awarded by the government has also risen by 7%, and over a four year period the total value has increased from £9.6 billion in 2008 to £20.6 billion in 2012.

Senior managers unprepared for financial responsibility

Research into more than 550 busnesses and over 1,300 employees has shown that the majority of SMB organisations firmly believed the responsibility for setting budgets, controlling payments and determining the company’s financial strategy lies with senior management. However, the same survey highlighted the fact that 1 in 3 senior managers felt unprepared to take on the role according to Basware’s SMB Finance research.

Tesco name horsemeat supplier

Tesco has announced that it has dropped supplier, Silvercrest on the back of the horse meat scandal. Tesco has said that Silvercrest took the supply from a company which did not feature on their list of recommended suppliers. In what Tesco called a "serious breadown of trust", the company had no option but to sever the ties with their long standing supplier.
