Reading Council implements Oracle Financials Cloud

Monday 3rd February, 2014

Reading Borough Council is moving to a cloud based Oracle ERP system in a bid to increase functionality, improve efficiencies and save money.

The council plans to extend its existing relationship with outsourcer Fujitsu to help it move to and manage the Oracle Financials Cloud platform across all of its financial management systems.

With a implementation date of April this year, the deal will see Reading become one of the first organisations to adopt Oracle Financials Cloud in the UK.

The contract (worth £1.35 million over three years), will see Fujitsu configure Oracle Financials Cloud for the council and a number of additional services, including BACs, cheque runs and service support.

Alan Cross, Head of Finance at Reading Borough Council, said: "We decided to upgrade to Oracle Financials Cloud as it not only delivers us significant cost savings in these times of budgetary constraint, but also provides genuine business benefit through significantly improved reporting at devolved levels, which our senior managers need."

He said: "The SaaS option fits with our internal ICT strategy so we can achieve a number of benefits through our managed service with Fujitsu."
