The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), has been selected by the NHS Leadership Academy to provide finance management training for the NHS Graduate Scheme.

The contract will see CIPFA provide classroom, face-to-face and online learning for members of the scheme from September 2014. The training will initially run for two years, graduates on the scheme are expected to become fully qualified CIPFA accountants as part of their training.

CIPFA chief executive Rob Whiteman said the institute was delighted to be supporting the NHS in equipping its future finance leaders.

"As the NHS faces demographic and budget pressures over the next decade, it is vital that finance staff have the first-class skills and knowledge they need."
