Thursday 25th September, 2014 A grant of more than three quarters of a million pounds has been shared between Stratford District Council and neighbouring local authorities in recognition of their ongoing efforts to reduce spending through shared services. The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) awarded £300,000 to support the implementation of the three-way financial management system for Stratford, Cherwell and South Northants district councils. On top of that, a further £475,000 has been made available for a land and property electronic document management systems (EDMS) development for the three councils and South Staffordshire District Council. The money is intended to help kick-start projects with the initial costs required to get them up and running. Stratford first looked at sharing services with neighbouring councils to save money back in 2008. Cllr Stephen Thirlwell (Cons, Henley), the deputy leader of Stratford District Council, said: “This is another success for Stratford and partners with our efforts being further recognised and endorsed through the Transformation Challenge Award. |
