Capita selected for NHS support services contract

Monday 9th February, 2015

Outsourcing giant Capita has been selected by the NHS to provide support services such as IT, back-office finance and HR services worth up to 5 billion pounds to a number of clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).

CCGs will be required to re-procure many of their support services by April 2016 in order to comply with EU procurement law, which NHS England anticipates will mean that between £3-5 billion of services will be procured through the framework.

The framework will also be available to other public sector organisations, both within the NHS and outside, including local authorities, who want to procure some or all of their support services.

Andy Parker, Chief executive, Capita said, "Our approval to join this framework is a testament to Capita’s experience in the health sector and wider public sector. The breadth and scale of services that will be procured through the new framework will transform service commissioning for the NHS and other healthcare providers."
