Surrey signs off Shared Services plans with East Sussex

Wednesday 11th March, 2015

Surrey County Council has signed off plans to launch a joint initiative with neighbouring council, East Sussex. The joint initiative will bring extra buying power and make significant savings for both councils by sharing services.

It will involve both councils collaborating in a number of areas such as IT, HR, Legal and financial services. The initiative is due to save approximately £8m a year.

The shared services will be led by a joint committee comprising of three cabinet members from each authority.

The initiative will also aim to provide services in partnership with other public sector organisations.

East Sussex’s Cabinet is due to consider the plans next month.
