Jamaican Government set aside funds for e-procurement

The Government of Jamaica has set aside a sum of $51 million for its Electronic Procurement system.

The project, which commenced in 2011, is intended to strengthen the efficiency and quality of Jamaica’s public procurement process through the development of its electronic system.

Just over $31 million will go towards a hosting server and electronic procurement system, scheduled to go live on 1st July.

Other amounts agreed for the project include, just over $1.47 million for training end users and the final project evaluation costing $575,000, a project audit will also to be undertaken at just over $1 million.

Funding is being jointly provided by the Government of Jamaica and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
