The UK Government has posted a long list of contracting opportunities across 13 different sectors on the contracts finder website, giving suppliers the prior notice they need to help them win the business.

As Business Secretary Vince Cable pointed out; “Frankly, we’ve been too short-term in how we’ve done procurement in the past. Our key competitors in Europe already see procurement as an integral part of a proper industrial strategy and it’s time we did the same. This is a win-win scenario, making our businesses stronger and providing best value for the taxpayer.”

The move has been hailed as an important step forward by industry leaders who say that holding centralised information on key contracts across the country will help them to plan in a more efficient way – helping to secure jobs and enable more accurate forecasting.
