Thursday 11th April, 2013 A Carphone Warehouse accountant has been jailed for four years after admitting to false accounting charges. Stephen Luck, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to fake invoices amounting to more than £500,000. Luck, who used the money to fund a luxurious lifestyle bought a Ferrari, two properties in Turkey and carried out various home improvements. Judge, Paul Focke said that he'd stolen the money over a period of three years, remarking that Luck had ‘embarked on an extravagant lifestyle. It was sheer greed.’Luck, 39, of Ampthill, Bedfordshire, pleaded guilty to false accounting involving 16 fake invoices. He had made a full admission after being found out. Angus Matheson, defending, said Luck had paid back half the amount and was taking steps to sell the Ferrari and family home to make further restitution, stating that the money had been put towards funding ‘a lifestyle which was beyond his means’. |
