Microsoft to use Hubwoo's Business Network to improve internal spend compliance

Global provider of collaborative business networks, Hubwoo has announced that Microsoft has chosen The Business Network for catalog management in a move designed to improve spend compliance for Microsoft employees. Microsoft is deploying Hubwoo's catalog management in the cloud to transform the efficiency and end-user experience for procurement across the company's 90,000 plus employees and contractors, with the key objective to drive bottom line savings.

G4S and Serco may face Serious Fraud Office for billing anomalies

The Justice Minister, Chris Grayling has revealed that the Government's two major suppliers, Serco and G4S have been over-charging for their electronic tagging services for a number of years. As reported by Channel 4 news, the matter may now be forwarded to the Serious Fraud Office.

Professional criminals blamed for rise in supply chain fraud

According to KPMG’s latest ‘Fraud barometer’ fraud cases totalling over £0.5bn were recorded in the first half of 2013, up over a quarter on the previous year. They noted that one of the biggest differences this year has been in the number of professional criminals involved – now responsible for fraud totalling £290m, up from £110m in 2012. One of the key drivers for this seems to have been supply chain fraud - worth £61m (up from less than £1m in 2012).

Accounting fraud at Post Office could be result of computer bug

Major retailers sign deal to improve Bangladesh factory safety

Swiss based trade unions, IndustriALL and UNI Global Union have coordinated an agreement and pledged allegiance to a new, legally binding legislation to conduct safety inspections at factories in Bangladesh. The move comes after the Rana Plaza disaster in which more than 1,000 workers lost their lives as the eight storey garment factory where they were working collapsed. Retail giants such as M&S, Tesco, Primark, Abercrombie & Fitch, Carrefour and Metro have all signed up to the pact. Last month Tesco ceased trading with a Bangladeshi partner due to concerns about safety.
